Kitchen Design

We design many kitchens that will be built by others or which use stock cabinets of some sort (we like Ikea cabinets, too). Typically you would provide measured drawings of the space, plus some photos. If you are near Vermont or Boston, we can meet on your site, and I can measure up the space. Usually, based on your observations and ideas, I'll come with sketches of several design directions. After reflection and discussion, we'll develop the best options in more detail. In the end, you'll have drawings which show the layout, elevations of each wall or island, and details which show where things are stored, and exactly how big each shelf or drawer must be to work right. This process depends heavily on your involvement, thought, and input. We can't design a good kitchen for you without that. In the end, you are designing it with our help.

My book "Renovating a Kitchen" from Taunton Press describes this process in much greater detail.

We can also do a brief review of a kitchen design which you or your designer have been developing. Usually at a small cost we can raise some questions or propose a couple of ideas that may make a big difference in how functional your kitchen is in the end.
